Members are received in four ways
- Profession of faith in Jesus Christ
- Transfer of membership from any Christian Church
- As an affiliate member, keeping your membership in your other church,
but more than a "visitor" here.
Is it possible to start over with God?
Absolutely! And FPC family is a great place to start.
How To Be Saved (By grace through faith)
Many religions are founded on the notion that the more morally we behave or the more strenuously we adhere to religious rules the more God will love us, Christianity offers something different. While there is nothing inherently wrong with a moral lifestyle or seeking to live out God’s precepts, these behaviors have very little to do with the salvation that God offers. In the person of Jesus Christ, God has already done everything needed for your salvation!
Because of God’s great love for you, you don’t have to do anything to earn salvation, yet the Presbyterian view does offer some simple steps that are helpful in understanding that love:
- Get used to Grace. Grace simply means that God gives to you all the good stuff – forgiveness, salvation, love, life, and everything else as completely free gifts!
- Admit your limitations. Make an honest confession to yourself about who you are and who you are not, and what you can and cannot do for yourself. When you see yourself realistically, you become more open to God’s message of love, grace, and salvation.
- Spend time in prayer and worship. If you want to live a renewed life through God’s gracious offer of salvation, pray to receive it with thanksgiving and then take the opportunity to find a church where you can live into your new life and celebrate the God who made this possible.
- Avoid the temptation to “do.” While you are in the process of living into a new life in Christ, Simply believe and remember that “God’s grace is sufficient.”
Finally, make your decision known to someone. Partnering with another Christian will provide you with strength, knowledge, and practical experience as you grow in your faith. If you still have questions, contact us and we will be honored to speak with you! Pastor Jack is always available to answer any questions you may have. Simply call the church office: 352.795.2259.
